Early Music Society of Victoria, (Australia)

The Early Music Society of Victoria (Australia) encourages the enjoyment of mediaeval, renaissance and baroque music.

It runs events such as players' and singers' afternoons, and public concerts.  New members and visitors are most welcome at all activities.


To join the EMSV see the JOIN section for the application form. Annual subscription $15 per email address.

EMSV Members receive "What's On in early music" emails every 2 or 3 weeks and may view the latest version on this website in the Members' section.


The EMSV WHAT'S ON column has changed editor from Lyn Hawkins to Jim Bland.

However it will work the same as before as the contact email for concert notices and instruments for sale is still emsvofvic@gmail.com


EMSV members - Your subscription for the year July 1st 2018/ 30th June 2019 is now due. Membership form is in the JOIN section of the website. After September the subscription is rising from $10 to $15.

Early Music Society of Victoria Inc Annual General Meeting followed by a meeting at 3pm
Sunday 22nd September 2019
at 2.00 pm at St Paul’s Anglican Church, corner of Margaret & Church Sts Canterbury.
All EMSV members are encouraged to come. Only current financial members can participate in the business of the AGM.
General playing after the AGM at 3pm
Anyone is welcome to the group playing / singing after the AGM at approx. 3.00 pm
Any singers / instrumentalists can participate in the group playing, but instruments must be of authentic style for the period.
General playing/singing - music will be supplied. Pieces to be played will include
Pieces to be played:  
Frescobaldi - Da Qual Sfera a5;         Morley - It was a Lover a4;  
Gastoldi – Concerto de Pastori a8;     Purcell - The Night a5;
Galilei - In Exitu Israel;                    Isaac – Optime Pastor a6;     
Morales – Missa sobre a4;      
The pitch for the afternoon will be A440

Performers: People / groups may perform a short <5min item during the afternoon. The harpsichord is transposing A440 / A415.
